The Docks

The Docks

The Docks is a huge entertainment complex on Lake Ontario in the downtown core. The parking lot itself was large, and gave a wonderful skyline view of the city. We got into the patio area with bracelets proving our registration. Now, you may remember that I was not officially registered. I was very lucky when the woman asking about us just assumed that I would be registered as well, and so when she gave me my bracelet, I was set for the night.

When we first got onto the patio, we stood in a line that seemed to give us a chance of winning a prize. You picked a key out of a bag and tried to open different locks, each with better prizes behind them. We both lost, as usual. So we went to see what the commotion was beside the huge blow-up Captain Morgan pirate.

Lo and behold, it was a bikini model contest. Dad wanted me to video tape some of it - yeah right! That's the man's job. Eventually we got a seat a little ways away and gazed at the sailboats, tall ships, and speed boats on the lake. We reluctantly ordered an overpriced beer and a Smirnoff Ice, and noticed that the winners of the bikini contest were having a shoot in the pool. I never realized how silly they look in real life!

There was no free food this time, so I buy a slice of pizza, and Dad doesn't bother. We notice that the models have changed and one of them is now running around taking pictures of all the 2003 Harleys parked on the patio.

Entrance to the night club is restricted to event registrants, making the party more exclusive. The host of the evening was a DJ from Q107, a Toronto rock radio station. The first band, Animal House, comes out and plays various cover songs from bands like AC/DC - and plays them well.

Partway through, I notice a big sign advertising free massages. Well, after 4 hours on the motorcycle seat from hell, I decided I deserved it, so I went over to find a variety of choices, from that Japanese pressure point thing, to foot massages, to the regular lie down kind. I asked to have whatever was first available, so I got the funny chair thing. The masseuse was pleasant but appalled at my horrible shoulder muscles. She was more gentle, so to speak, than I was used to, but I felt better for a while. Unfortunately, standing and trying to videotape rock bands all night doesn't exactly count as taking care of one's muscles, so they hurt again before long.
