Our Ride For Sight

Centennial Park

We crossed into the Trenton city limits a half hour later. We were instantly rewarded with a sign showing us the way to the Ride for Sight grounds. I was impressed with the organization, but that didn't last long. It was the only sign the organizers

provided that I would ever see. I suppose they assumed that since we were practically there, we should have been able to figure out the rest of the way and yes, we eventually did. But not before making several u-turns at what looked like entrances, though were really well guarded barriers. How were we supposed to know that we were to access the site from the main road to the arena? In fact, how were we supposed to know where the arena was in the first place?

Registration

The big sign on the wall said 'REGISTRATION', so I took a chance that we were in the right place. Once inside I found a long line of tables manned by volunteers just waiting for me. I chose one and a couple of minutes later I was dropping my ballot into a big glass box for a chance at winning a 1200R Sportster. Ten minutes later Caroline would be doing the same. Not all the volunteers knew what they were doing, but at least there were no lines. We headed back for the steaming hot outdoors to begin our search for the kids.

Andrew is second from the left, about to head out on
his first demo ride. He is riding the CityX.

We rode through the gate and went straight to the parking lot adjacent to the demo rides area. After parking our bikes, we turned around and there were Gail's and Andrew's Blasts not more than a few feet away. I could see Gail had her helmet chained to her rear wheel, but there was no sign of Andrew's. That could mean only one thing: demo ride.
