Perth Slow Ride
Let’s see. Only a few months of riding experience and a relatively slow bike. Sounds like the perfect person to lead a ride to Merrickville, Smiths Falls, and Perth. Especially when the group said person is leading consists mostly of high powered sport bikes.
And yet this is exactly what I ended up doing the Sunday of the August long weekend!
My original intentions were to join up with another member of the local forum for bikers, ott-motorcycles.ca, for a planned ride to the east of Ottawa. But I had a dinner party to attend that night, and the proposed route seemed fairly long, so I asked the planner if he thought a shorter ride would be possible. He pointed out that he had not been getting a lot of response, and suggested that maybe I start my own thread. Being a girl, I might attract better attendance.
Well, it worked. The thread became super popular with six pages of posts including those made before and after the ride. We got 20 or 30 people in total (I can’t remember the exact numbers).
I quite enjoyed the leisurely ride through the back roads on the way to the quaint little country town of Merrickville. The jaunt to Smiths Falls was less scenic, but still exciting for me as I was once again in the lead. My trip ended in Perth while many others, after a quick lunch, continued on to Calabogie in search of some of the twistiest roads in that area.
My favourite part of the whole day was putting many faces to screen names for the people on ott-motorcycles. I even found a good friend in the guy who suggested I start the thread in the first place, rubberlegs76 (Gilbert).

Many met up first at Ottawa Good Time Centre, then headed to
North Gower to meet up with the rest. It was cool seeing
so many
bikes at the plaza in the Gower.

Some more of the gang at the plaza in NG.

The bikes filled up a decent portion of the parking lot in
front of the Timmy's in Perth.

This sweet R1 with its polished frame
belongs to the new guy in town, from Alberta.

Some more bikes in another part of the Timmy's lot in Perth.
