Gail's Riding Journal

Stopped on the Road
I was riding home from work the other night when a white car started to
pass at a time I didn't think it was necessary to pass. Then I
noticed that the car was driving beside me, and the driver was trying
to get my attention, waving his finger at me and all.
I thought one of two things: one, maybe something was wrong with my
bike, so I looked at either side and everything seemed ok; two, what
if this was an undercover cop and he wanted to stop me for goodness
knows what?
I tried to forget about it after the car pulled in back behind me. At
the next stop light he came up carefully on the right, and asked if I
minded stopping to talk for a minute. Sure, I thought - why not.
Again, what if it was a police officer trying to pull me over? ;)
I should point out at this point that the area was highly trafficked and one would not be able to get away with anything uncaught here. Had the surroundings be different, I would never have stopped.
So I pulled onto the shoulder, turned the bike off, and took the key
out to hold in my hand (just in case).
As it turns out, this guy had a son who was a mobile motorcycle
mechanic that mostly works on BMWs, but likes to try new things. This
guy (father of the mechanic I was talking to) couldn't tell what kind
of bike I was riding, and wanted to find out what it was. He thought
maybe his son might want to try working on something like it.
Go figure :)
