A Snapshot of the Nineties
March / April / November
March 1992
The newsletter got a new masthead. On the left was a map of Ontario with a Canadian flag planted on Ottawa , while on the right was a perched bald eagle. In between was the name "Hog Times." It was rather crude, but I can say that because I had designed it.
The listing of the executive showed a new Director - Irvin Martin while Rob Dalrymple had taken over the duties of the editor. Membership dues were $15 single and $20 per couple.
Regular columns included:
-
Letter from the Director - In the letter, the director wrote about a recent chapter get together at Norm's place. He also talked about the search for a new chapter meeting location, as well as for a regular Sunday Morning Breakfast restaurant.
-
Re-Prints - Taken from the Hamilton chapter newsletter was a short piece entitled "Bones", which described the four bones of any organization: wishbones, jawbones, knucklebones, and backbones.
There was an unconfirmed rumor that the Canadian HOG Tales was cancelled and the original HOG Tales would be turned into an international copy.
Eric B became a chapter member and would become our "Toys for Tots" Santa for many years to come.
Another article found in the newsletter was Norm's light hearted account of the trials and tribulations of installing a cam and ignition module upgrade on his bike.
There was also a call for submissions for the member's profile section.

April 1992
The newsletter got a facelift with a new HOG Times masthead (and it was an improvement over my previous effort in my opinion). The eagle was replaced by a rider on a FL who was positioned over the Ontario map. Unfortunately, it looked much better on my PC's screen than on the dot matrix printed hard copy.
Announced was a new location for the next chapter meeting; Mamma's Place at 1170 Innes Rd.
Regular columns included:
-
Letter from the Director - In this column, Irvin explained the reasoning for the selected new chapter meeting location, his wish for getting Sunday rides going again, the planning for the Toy Run, and the development of an Album Night for members to reminisce and socialize.
The problem with wearing HOG patches had not gone away and was still very much a concern as evidenced by the following notation: "Due to increasing problems, Hamilton has decided to remove their rocker and HOG patches. Ottawa members are reminded that this policy is in effect here as well. No rockers or HOG patches on your back."
The plans for the second Flog Your Hawg Run (16 May) were released, outlining the route with stops at the St Albert Cheese Factory, l'Alibi Bar in Valleyfield, and Goulet's HD in Hawkesbury for a total distance of 200 miles.

November 1992
Regular columns included:
-
Editorial - The big news that month was that Ottawa had been chosen to be the host of the 1st National HOG Rally (logically enough). The principle organization of the rally would be the responsibility of HOG Canada, and two possible sites have been identified; Hogs Back Park and Carleton University. The chapter was never contacted prior to this announcement, nor was it asked for any input!
-
Member Profile - Don and Doris are featured. A picture of them on their '89 FLHS accompanied the text.
-
Re-Prints - Two re-prints were found.
The first, "HD Hits the High Road," was grabbed from Fashion Magazine and talked about the new MotorClothes line.
The other was about "Sales Tax Rules Changing October 1st," and how they would affect motorcycle re-sale taxes. It came from a BMW newsletter.
The chapter Christmas Party was announced, and it would be held at Mamma's Place on Innes Road.
It was also that time of year to start thinking about the elections and a new executive. Members were asked to submit nominations by mail, or by dropping them off at Hurst.
And finally, a photo page showing pictures from the recent Toy Parade was attached.
