Eric was a former professional marine engineer, who returned to school to complete a BA in Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton University. Most recently Eric worked as a counsellor at Serenity House Inc. Beloved son of Bill and Gwen (nee Hodgins) Birrell of Ottawa. Dear brother of Alan (Doris) Birrell, and Elaine (Dave Burton).
