T-Sport: First Two Years

Miscellaneous Bits

A couple of parts straight out of HD's accessories catalog were on the bike before I bought it; a wrinkle black low sissy bar with pad, and a color matched front spoiler. To this I added a wrinkle black sport luggage rack, a color matched trim ring for the air cleaner, a smoked turn signal lens kit, and a pair of black long stem mirrors (so I could see more than my elbows).

I turned to Kuryakyn for new grips and foot pegs. I chose the Iso-Grips that came with the Throttle Boss having had a

similar device on my old '77 Honda 750. That Honda had very heavy return springs on its carburetors, and holding the throttle open for long periods of time was made much easier with this simple little protrusion. It was a good idea then and I think it is still a good idea today.

When I first rode my Electra Glide, I wondered if I would ever get used to the concept of floor boards. Thirteen years later I sold the bike and wondered if I could ever live without those floor boards. Although possible, putting floor boards on the T-Sport was a non-starter, if for aesthetic reasons only. Stirrups seemed to offer a lot of the same advantages of floor boards while still maintaining a sporty look. So I got them in combination with the Iso-pegs.
Spoiler, Dually peg and Iso peg.
Although I am very happy with this foot peg combination, the design pushes the actual foot pegs a bit too far out board than I would have preferred.

Continuing with the Iso collection theme, I replaced the stock highway pegs with Kuryakyn's Dually pegs. I found the stock pegs to close together, so I ordered the Duallys with extensions to give me more room. And finally, I replaced the passenger pegs and the shifter peg with the same style. I also added one peg extension to the left passenger peg because Harley for some reason had not mounted them symmetrically, thus making leg positioning for the passenger awkward. This

oversight was corrected by Harley in the following model year.

One last note; the bike came with an upgraded rear tire. The original stock Dunlop was a 130, but a 150 was fit without any clearance issues what-so-ever. I replaced the rear at 8,000 clicks with another Dunlop 150. The front is still going strong at 14,000.
