1977 Honda CB750K
Final Thoughts
I set a number of personal records on the Honda. The most important to me was the close to 900 miles I managed to do in one day. I don't think I will ever be able to break that one now as my age is starting to catch up with me. I'm usually quite plea sed doing 500 kilometers without my knees seizing. I also accumulated somewhere over 20,000 miles that year I owned the bike. Most of those miles were put on locally and in a typically short Canadian riding season. I was sure I was a contender for a possible long distance award with the club, but I wasn't even close. I only needed to double that figure to match the actual winner. Of course he cheated by traveling all over North America, and at all times of the year.
During all those miles, the Honda 750K never even had a flat, much less any mechanical problems. It always started without question no matter what the conditions were - hot or cold. Other than gas and oil, and possibly a set of tires, this motorcycle did not cost me anything over the original purchase price. I wish I could say the same for many of my other rides. But the Honda did have one fault, and it turned out to be a big one as far as I was concerned. It didn't keep my interest. It was just another machine. Unlike some of the other bikes I have owned, it was not one that I would like to own again despite its loyal service. Pity.
